Let’s Go Fishing!!!

Come with us to Tyler Nature Center and enjoy a morning of fishing and hiking.
We will join Pack 359 for a fun morning of fishing and hiking.
What will we do and learn?
- How to tie a Palomar Knot.
- How to tell a Spotted Bass from a Largemouth Bass.
- What is the best bait for Catfish?
- How many Crappie can you take home from a fishing trip?
- And best of all…CATCH A FISH!

Every Scout should bring:
Cub Scout Six Essentials
- First-aid kit
- Filled water bottle
- Flashlight
- Trail food/snack
- Sun protection
- Whistle
Also Consider:
- ๐ Closed-toe shoes appropriate for fishing and hiking
- ๐งข Hat and sunscreen
- ๐ฆ Insect repellent
- ๐ถ๏ธ Sunglasses recommended, especially while fishing
- ๐ฆ๏ธ Weather-appropriate clothing
- ๐ท๏ธ Please label personal gear with your Scout’s name
Optional fishing gear:
- ๐ฃ Rod and reel โ Scouts are welcome to bring their own
- ๐ชฑ Fishing bait โ Scouts may bring their own
- ๐ช Folding/camp chair for parents and other adults
๐ช Important Fishing Rules
- Catch and release only. All fish must be returned to the water.
- Barbless hooks only.ย If bringing your own fishing equipment, please make sure all hooks are barbless before fishing or talk to one of the leaders to learn how to make a hook “barbless”.
- Scouts should not bring equipment intended for keeping fish, such as stringers or fish baskets.
๐ Lunch
Pack 369 will provide pizza and drinks for Scouts and families.
Please make sure your RSVP includes everyone attending so we can order enough food and drinks. Families should also let us know in advance about any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Even though drinks will be provided at lunch, every Scout should still bring a filled water bottle as part of their Six Essentials for the day’s outdoor activities.
